What is an Associates Degree?
An associate’s degree requires 60 completed degree-applicable units. There are two types of Associate’s degrees, the Associate of Arts, (A.A.) and the Associate of Science (A.S.). You are able to obtain an Associate’s degree at any community college in California. UC and CSU campuses do not offer Associate’s Degrees. To obtain the Associate Degree, a student must complete 60 units of college work. The 60 units must include General Education, Major and Elective courses.
We offer programs leading to the Associates Degree in Arts (AA Degree) and programs leading to the Associates Degree in Science (AS Degree). An Associates Degree is a 2-year degree that prepares a student for a career and includes academic course requirements, such as, Math, English and Science along with courses in the career field. Once you complete an Associates Degree, you may decide to go to work in your chosen field or to complete transfer requirements.
