What is an associate degree? What is a diploma?
An associate of arts or science degree is a provincially recognized credential comprised of approximately 20 courses (60 credits) which facilitates priority admission to some BC colleges and universities and which can also be used for admission to third year of some Kwantlen degree programs. A diploma is comprised of 60 credits and, in some cases, it may be taken by students who are planning to transfer to university; however, a diploma does not offer priority admission and usually does not transfer as block credit. Please refer to the BC Transfer Guide for more information.
