What is an aspect ratio, and why is it important?
→ The aspect ratio is the ratio between the width of the picture and the height of the picture. A 16×20 inch print’s aspect ratio is 4:5, and a 24×36 inch print’s aspect ratio is 2:3. This is important because when we enlarge your image, we need to maintain the correct proportions of the original to avoid distortion. For example, if a 16×20 inch portrait is ordered, any image can be enlarged correctly that has an aspect ratio 4:5. Acceptable original file sizes may be 8×10 inches, 4×5 inches or 2×2.5 inches. We can correct files that do not have correct aspect ratios, but some cropping will be necessary, which means portions of the picture edges will be lost.
