One with which many outside the sport are not necessarily familiar is the archery recurve bow. The archery recurve bow is unique for a few different reasons, which is partly what makes it somewhat unknown to those outside the sport. An archery recurve bow gets its name from the fact that the tips of the bow curve away from the shooter when the bow is being held. A major difference between a recurve bow and other bows is the stringing. With most other bows, the string will touch only the tips of the bow itself. On the other hand, a recurve bows string will actually touch the limbs. So what is the advantage of the curve in a recurve bow?
