What is an A&R Scout?
An A&R (artist and repertoire) person works with a record company and is usually part of the permanent staff. For the most part, their job is to discover artists, begin the steps to develop their musicianship, image, and material, sign them to a recording contract, choose the best material for the project, help develop the artist`s musicianship, and work with other record company staff to create a marketable image.
