What is an applet Java and what are its advantages?
Go back up Applet comes from APPlication widgET\’ (part of an application) and JAVA is the associated programming language. It refers to a mini-program that is downloaded each time it is required, as opposed to a software program which is downloaded only once. Isn\’t a software program better? Not necessarily. An applet is flexible in that it can be employed on many systems (Windows, Unix, Mac os) without requiring any modifications. On the other hand, software is heavily-dependant on the system and each system generally requires a different version. Furthermore, with the increase in the number of people having access to Broadband, downloading is virtually instantaneous.
