What is an ANSI standard?

0

“Standards” are documents created to set out the standard specifications for consumer products, business contracts, building, programming languages, etc. There are many organisations which compile and promote standards – ANSI is the American National Standards Institute ( http://www.ansi.org/), and all its standards are numbered like “ANSI Z80.18-2003” (that one’s actually the standard for contact lens care products). Another standard type which often appears is ISO – the International Organization for Standardization – and most countries probably have an organisation for standards (Australia’s one is ASO). Standards can be purchased online from each organisation’s web shop.
