What is an alias?
An alias has 2 meanings and refers to your email name and also to just the first part of your email name. For example in the email address, brutus@yourdomainname.com, “brutus@yourdomainname.com” is the alias (while “@yourdomainname.com” is the top level domain name (TLD). The TLD is derived from the domain name of your website. If your domain name is “yourdomainname.com” then your web address would be http://yourdomainname.com and your email address would be any alias you choose “@yourdomainname.com” The “brutus” part of the email name is variable as it could be any name associated with the TLD of “@yourdomainname.com.” The variable first part of an email address is also referred to as an alias. So you can have many “aliases” with your domain name of “@yourdomainname.com”. With your web hosting account, you will be able to create as many aliases as your particular plan permits. Our minimum starts at 100 aliases. All 100 aliases would end in “@yourdomainname.com” or whatever your domain
An alias is an email address that results in the email message being re-routed to a completely different email address. Let’s imagine that Fred, Bob and Mary work at Widgets Incorporated, and each would prefer to receive their email through their own ISP account, then you can create an alias for each. All email not addressed to them will still come through to your default mailbox.
