What is an Alias and how is it used?

0

A An Alias is another name a person might expect a given department to be found under. For example, a person might look for the Office of Human Resources under OHR, Human Resources, HR, or even Employment. Each of those Aliases could be added by entering them (one at a time) in the Alias text box and clicking the Update button. Once created, the aliases will show up on the NAUTICAL People and Departments Tree and Alphabetical listings with the same information (bldg, room, phone) as the actual department. Alias also show up in the phone directory listing, but rather than repeat all the phone information for the parent, there is a reference to the parent. E.g. the alias OHR would appear as: OHR (see Office of Human Resources).
