The Advancement to Candidacy form is essentially a contract between the student and the university and that you have been officially recognized by the university as a candidate for the degree. You are required to state what program requirement (core), elective and culminating experience courses you will take to complete your degree. You will also state in what semesters that you will be taking these courses. If you deviate from the courses that you have stated on the Advancement to Candidacy form, you must submit a “Petition for Exception” to make the necessary changes.
