In introducing his presentation on planning, Mr Doulman noted that there were many different types of plans and that they were developed for different reasons and with different levels of complexity. He added that planning was undertaken to assemble ideas in a coherent manner; to try to take account of future uncertainties when operating in a dynamic and changing environment; to ensure proper budgetary control and scheduling of funds; to avoid haphazard implementation of activities; to ensure that activities had a greater chance of success; to provide clarity and transparency; to provide continuity in the event of personnel changes and to improve management. 10. Mr Doulman further noted that a good plan should provide: • an assessment of the situation on the ground ; • goals/objectives; • a set of actions to be undertaken; • priorities; • an indication of the human and financial resources required and how they would be sourced; • assignment of roles and responsibilities for key pers
In some ways, an action plan is a “heroic” act: it helps us turn our dreams into a reality. An action plan is a way to make sure your organization’s vision is made concrete. It describes the way your group will use its strategies to meet its objectives. An action plan consists of a number of action steps or changes to be brought about in your community. Each action step or change to be sought should include the following information: • What actions or changes will occur • Who will carry out these changes • By when they will take place, and for how long • What resources (i.e., money, staff) are needed to carry out these changes • Communication (who should know what?
