What is an abatement notice / what will it say?
A. An abatement notice is a legal document. It requires the recipient of the notice to take action to abate the nuisance. The notice will specify a reasonable time period in which the offender must comply with the terms of the notice. The time period will vary depending on the circumstances of the case. In complex cases, where extensive work is required to abate the nuisance, this period may be up to 6 months, or longer. In simple cases, where little or no work is required, the time period can be as short as one minute.
