What is an AA badge and why do I need one?
An Artists’ Alley (AA) badge is distinct from a regular Anime Boston badge and does not actually allow you access to the convention itself. What it does do: It allows us to make sure people who have not purchased table space are not sitting at your space without permission (also known as “squatting”). We do this for your protection. Also, it’s a neat keepsake when we’re done. Please do NOT get offended when the staff asks to see your Artists’ Alley Badge – if you are not wearing it or it is not immediately visible, we WILL ask for it. There are more than 300 artists in the alley and we often have new staff members — we cannot remember everybody’s face. We will also check for AA badges throughout the weekend to make sure there are no squatters in the room. We have found that this is a regrettable yet necessary action due to the number of people who have tried to cheat the system by setting up in spaces that they didn’t pay for or even sign up for properly.
