What is Amnesty doing about Darfur?
Amnesty has been drawing attention to the situation in Darfur since the disturbing initial reports five years ago of mass killings in the western portion of Sudan. Last October, Amnesty sent a research mission to Chad to investigate reports of the spreading of the conflict from Darfur to neighbouring Chad. Amnesty has been meeting with United Nations officials and putting pressure on governments around the world to bring effective peacekeepers to the region. It’s clear that we need the voices of millions of people to mobilize decision-makers to take effective action.
