A – AlphaNumeric Display allows you to enter a “name” for each channel. For example, you could enter “NY POLICE” or “FDNY-1”, & when your scanner stops on that channel, you will actually “see” what you are tuned to. Scanners with this feature, (Such as the SC-230 & BC-346XT), will, of course have limits on the amount of characters you can have in the display, depending on exact model.
