What is All-City Chorus?
All-City Chorus is a special event for selected 5th grade students. Deer Park will have nine representatives in the 200-voice All-City Chorus this year. The Chorus will rehearse on the January 28, 2008, a teacher work day. They will rehearse again and perform their concert on February 29, 2008, to kick off Music in Our Schools Month (March 2008). Auditions for All-City Chorus will be held at school after Thanksgiving. They will sing one of the songs from the November 13 5th grade showcase, A Whale of a Tale. Students will be judged on tone quality, diction, rhythmic accuracy, and intonation. They will also receive a recommendation from their classrooms teachers about their citizenship and responsibility. Parents of tudents selected for All-City Chorus will receive a detailed permission slip some time in December.
