AA is a religion that pretends to not be a religion. It is now illegal in 16 states to be mandated by the courts to attend AA because of its religious nature, and the Supreme Court of the US has refused to hear appeals of these decisions. Once I quit trying to do it their way, I was able to quit on my own in 2001. AA has great PR and little else. Study after study shows that AA is no more effective in quitting drinking than no treatment at all and the folks that fail in AA fall harder and for longer periods of time than those never exposed. 1) Dr. Brandsma found that A.A. increased the rate of bi
