What is Albanys Measure A parcel tax?
Albany Unified School District (Alameda County) placed Measure A on the November 2005 ballot. Measure A passed with 68.5% of the vote. Measure A taxes residential parcels at $250, and non-residential parcels at $0.05 per square foot, with a minimum tax of $250. It provides exemptions for low-income homeowners and renters (as defined by Section 8), and property owners of single family, owner-occupied residences where the owner is 65 years or older. It exempts parcels that are otherwise exempt from tax under the constitution of the State of California.
