What is AGS anyway?
AGS (Adventure Game Studio) is adventure game development software that is available for free from here. The idea behind giving this software away for free is that people will then freely share their creations with others. Far from being a stagnant group of nostalgics reminiscing about a genre of computer games have rarely been made commercially for at least a decade, AGSers have transformed adventure games (etc.) into a dynamic and democratic forum for genre enthusiasts. Fans and producers have become the same people, and with the absence of a market imperative adventure games have morphed into an unappologetic art form. Occassionally vulgar, often humorous, sometimes brilliant and almost always tongue-in-cheek, adventure games made with AGS today are creatively on par with and sometimes excel the early greats made by such firms as Sierra and Lucas Arts.
