Adult Placement involves sharing your home with an individual with a learning disability (previously known as mental handicap) and accepting them as part of your family. Whether short or long term, Adult Placement entails you taking a personal interest in an individual’s physical, emotional and social needs and giving them the opportunity and support required to develop new skills, be independent and live an ordinary life in the community. Adult Placement is a very rewarding experience for both carers and individuals with a learning disability. HOW CAN YOU HELP? People with a learning disability who are looking for an Adult Placement have many varied interests and needs.
