What is Adult Learners Week?
Adult Learners’ Week is a wonderful celebration of the energy and inspiration that adults bring to their learning. It seeks to use the achievements of learners to inspire others to have to go – whether it be learning a new skill, learning for fun, or catching up on learning missed at school. Learn a new skill – just for fun! Adult Learners’ Week is the UK’s largest learning campaign to encourage adults to give learning a go. As well as the awards, taster sessions will be happening all across the region, and it is a great opportunity to attract new learners to courses and develop what’s on offer in your community. Led by NIACE, the week has the backing of the Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) and the European Social Fund (ESF) and is also supported nationally and locally by a raft of prestigious organisations. 2009 marks the 18th Adult Learners’ Week.
