What is adolescence education?
The Adolescence Education Undergraduate Program (formerly Secondary Education) is unique in the way that it prepares teacher education candidates to work with students, parents, and administrators in a rapidly changing educational landscape. It is designed to broaden and deepen a candidate’s native abilities and interests so that s/he will better educate future citizens. As a student of teaching, you must study the content, the learner, the process and context of learning, and the teaching of content. That is why the Adolescence Education Program is designed so that you spend most of your first seven semesters studying General Education and discipline content (e.g., English). You must broaden your own education, your understanding of the world, and develop your skill in your discipline.
