Adjustable gastric banding is a surgical, reversible method of limiting the amount of food you are able to ingest at one sitting. LAP-BAND® System and REALIZE® Band surgery allow Dr. David D. Kim to attach an elastic band filled with a saline solution around the upper portion of the stomach to create a smaller stomach pouch. The result gives you a feeling of fullness much sooner after smaller portions of food. The saline solution in the band can be adjusted to create a larger stomach pouch to accommodate more food, or a smaller one to accommodate less. The band can also be removed altogether at any time.
