The additional income support arising from the reforms of the EU sugar regime forms part of the SPS from 2006. Ministers have agreed that the 52 million earmarked for the 2006 scheme year will be added entirely to entitlements held by sugar beet growers, based on their contracted tonnage held for the 2005/06 marketing year (this excludes leased-in tonnage).
