What is Additional Retirement Service Credit?
This service credit purchase option allows eligible CalPERS members to purchase “additional retirement service credit” that can be applied toward retirement benefits. It is sometimes referred to as nonqualified service. The costing method is intended to be “cost neutral” to employers, which means the member covers the entire cost to fund future benefits.
