What Is ACHOO Syndrome?

0

ACHOO syndrome is characterized by an abrupt and unmanageable sneezing after being exposed to a bright light source. The full-form of ACHOO syndrome is Autosomal dominant Compelling Heliopthalmic Outburst syndrome. This is a genetically inherited condition. A person suffering from ACHOO syndrome may sneeze 30-40 times at a time after being exposed into bright light or sunlight. If the victim moves to the bright light all of a sudden from dark place, the condition becomes more intense. The syndrome is autosomal dominant – that implies only one abnormal gene needs to be present for the occurrence of the disorder. If one of the parent having this gene, there is always 50% chance that the will be inherited into the next generation. However, as the disorder is not a malignant one, so no effective research has been done till today to identify the gene responsible for the disorder. Hence, no such effective measures have been developed as well.
