What is accent modification instruction?
Typically, in the United States, accent modification instruction allows people learning English as a second language to sound more like native speakers of American English. This is done by learning to use the sounds of American English as native speakers do and by adopting a melody pattern and speaking rate that corresponds to that of the local English-speaking community. The instruction may be individual or group-based. It is provided by speech therapists.
