What is abuse of choice or conduct?
Abuse is a dynamic, destructive, ongoing psycho/social process which satisfies dysfunctional traits within the violators personality that inhibits personal growth, restricts options, limits communication, and is self-absorbed. Abuse of “choice or conduct” is differentiated to identify inappropriate conduct which is NOT consistent with the intent of the client or that is inherently destructive of relationships, time, resources or options which should benefit the client. Professionals can abuse choices in three ways: • Nonfeasance is to ignore and take no indicated action. • Misfeasance is to take inappropriate action or give intentionally incorrect advice. • Malfeasance is hostile, aggressive action taken to injure the client’s interests.
