What is Aberdeen Angus Beef?
Aberdeen Angus is the original name of the breed developed in Scotland known widely in the United States as Angus or Black Angus beef and promoted by the American Angus Association. Hugh Watson is credited with establishing the Angus breed in the mid 1800s with his favorite bull, Old Jock, who was given the number 1 in the Scotch Herd Book and Old Granny who was born in 1824, and after producing 29 calves was killed by lightning at the age of 35. All of the Angus cattle at SandSpring Ranch can be traced back to these two magnificent creatures.
