AAA supported the reductions to the VLF rate in the 1990s. Our policy is that the tax on motor vehicles should be assessed at a rate reasonably commensurate with the few other forms of personal property items that remain taxed, which are boats, aircraft and rail cars. Those are taxed at a rate of 1%.
