What is a zero-tolerance zone?

0

A Zero Tolerance Zone is defined as a neighbourhood where graffiti on City-owned and maintained assets is proactively removed by City crews and contractors on a weekly basis. The zones were established to recognize the highest graffiti areas in the city, which also correspond generally to the main business and tourist areas. The zero tolerance concept is specific to City assets; however, external stakeholders are encouraged to consider applying the same strategy on their assets within the defined zones. The City currently has ten proactively patrolled zero tolerance zones or neighbourhoods, generally described as the downtown core, Vanier, Glebe, Westboro, Britannia, Barrhaven, Southgate, Manor Park and Cyrville/Carson Grove, and Orléans.
