What is a young deer known as?
It depends on the species. In some, such as fallow deer and white-tailed deer, the young are called fawns. In others, such as red deer and reindeer, the young are called calves. The names for male and female deer also vary with species. In some, such as red deer and Pere David’s deer, males are called stags and females hinds. In others, such as fallow deer and white-tailed deer, males are called bucks and females does. In still others, such as moose and reindeer, males are called bulls and females cows. EDIT: Ravlov, neither pronghorn nor antelope are deer. Deer belong to the family Cervidae, whilst pronghorn are the sole members of the family Antilocapridae and antelope belong to the family Bovidae (the same family as cattle, sheep, goats and so on). As with deer, the name for young antelope varies with species, being a calf in some, a fawn in others, and a lamb in others.
