What is a “WU” grade?
If you do not officially withdraw from a class and stop attending class for whatever reason or if you are absent too much from a class, the professor will assign you a grade of a “WU.” A “WU” is equivalent to an “F,” which is the same as a “0.” A “0” will be entered into the calculation of your GPA, which will bring it down significantly. BE AWARE that all students must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA in order to graduate and be in good academic standing.
A “WU” grade, formally a “U” grade, is noted as an “Unauthorized Withdrawal.” The “WU” indicates that an enrolled student did not complete course requirements and did not properly withdraw from the course. The “WU” gives the student 0 grade points per unit and is computed in the grade point average the same as an “F” grade. Note: It is the student’s responsibility to drop courses by the appropriate deadlines.
