What is a Writing to Learn assignment?
WAC pedagogy argues that students understand, retain, and synthesize information through writing. Further, students improve their writing and critical thinking through practice. Writing to learn assignments, which are often in-class and almost always informal, allow students the freedom to practice their writing and make connections between ideas without the pressures inherent in formal academic communication.
