What is a workload measurement system?
A workload measurement system is a mechanism to track the time related to what the “hands-on” or unit-producing staff are doing towards fulfilling the mandate of their department. It is intended that the workload units (minutes) recorded reflect the time it took to carry out various activities of the functional centre. In Chapter 4 of the MIS Standards, the discipline-specific categories or “buckets” to record this time are provided. How can workload data be used? It is important that time tracking be done in order to have reliable information for management decision-making.
