What is a WIM card and what does it do?
• WIM is the WAP Forum-specified WAP Identity Module. It is intended for mobile Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) use and can be used together with the mobile phone’s browser. WIM is designed for storing private cryptographic keys in a safe way, and for performing the necessary cryptographic operations using the keys, without the key leaving the module. In this way, the key will not be subjected to the risk of being compromised. Additionally, WIM can be used to store user and authority certificates that are needed for security operations in the browser.
