What is a web site address, URL or Domain name?
A website address or URL (Uniform Resource Locator) is used to identify and locate your website pages on the Internet. Computers use Internet protocol (IP) numbers to locate each other on the Internet (much like telephone numbers). These are hard to remember. Simple web addresses, such as www.yourcompanyname.com, are used instead and linked to identify Internet IP addresses.
