A waterless toilet is a type of self-composting toilet that is not connected to a septic tank or main sewer line. It’s used in rural areas where there is no access to a main sewer line and it’s not an option to dig a septic tank. It’s especially handy in areas where water supply is limited. Waterless toilets can almost never be used in urban areas because if a connection to a main sewer line is available, it’s against the law not to use it.
