What is a Waste Collector and how does it work?
• A Precision marine waste collector is a vessel designed to hold the skimmate that flows from the fixed drain in the skimmer cup. • It is designed to stop the flow of skimmate or water should it fill entirely. This is helpful if your protein skimmer should over-foam due to a mis-adjustment or additives used in the aquarium. • In addition, there is a space built-in for the use of activated carbon to remove odors or residual ozone if you choose. • Do I need a Waste Collector? • No, you do not need to use one, however, you will need to use some form of collection for skimmate as all Precision Marine Protein Skimmers employ a fixed drain (excepting the HOT1 standard).
