What is a Waiver (Home and Community-Based Services/HCBS)?
A. “Waivers” cover expanded services not usually covered by MA, for persons on MA who are certified disabled and in need of a specified level of care. Waivered services can help a child live in the community as fully and independently as possible. There may be a parental fee. Eligible persons are encouraged to get on waiting lists as soon as feasible. Ask your service coordinator about how your child qualifies for a waiver.
