What is a Voluntary Furlough?
A Voluntary Furlough is a reduction in personnel achieved in seniority order starting with the most senior flight attendant, in which a flight attendant can volunteer to be furloughed. Because our current working agreement does not permit this type of furlough it was necessary to negotiate a side letter of agreement between AFA and the company. This one- time only agreement contains specific protections that normally would not apply.
