What is a voltaic cell?
A voltaic cell is also known as a galvanic cell. According to The American Heritage Dictionary of Science, a voltaic cell is defined as “an electric cell consisting of two electrodes, each of a different metal, connected by a wite and immersed in an electrolyte. An electric current is produced in the wire by a chemical reaction between the eleectrolyte and oneof the slectrodes” (Barnhart, Robert K, 1986, p719). .
