Voice authorization to the website is the equivalent of a decline. To get an authorization you must call your credit card company to get an authorization code, then input that code into your payment gateway. The exact procedure is a little different for each merchant account and gateway. You should review your gateway documentation, or contact your payment gateway provider and tell them you’re getting a “voice authorization” to learn the exact procedure. You could also safely, treat the card as a failure.

If your credit card terminal or virtual terminal goes down, you will need to dial a voice authorization number to process your order and get an approval number. If you are a retail store you will also have to take an imprint of the card with your manual imprinter.
