What is a vocabulary book?

0

When I learned English we had vocabulary books …it was a notebook where we had to write all the vocabulary we learn. Usually it was organized by the chapters in our textbook. The way the notebook was organized was: we divided each page in right and left half – on one half we wrote the English meaning and on the other half we wrote the meaning in our native language (which for me was Czech)…the whole idea of the design was that when you fold the page in half – you see only the words in your native language and you should be able to fill in the word in foreign language…and vice verse….so it was a learning tool. I am not exactly sure if English is your native language…than vocabulary book would mean obviously something slightly different…my guess would be …just a notebook with list of words…in this case I guess it would make sense to organize them by themes…
