What is a Visa?
The VISA (Verified Individual Services and Accommodation) is a written record of the accommodations recommended by SAC staff for the student whose name appears on the document. Accommodations are designed to provide the student with an equal opportunity to participate in all educational activities.
A visa stamp is written evidence of permission to enter the U.S. granted by the U.S. Department of State to a non-immigrant. Typically, the visa status is recorded in the form of a stamp on one of the pages of the individual’s passport. Visa status’ come in different categories and give the non-immigrant different permissions and limits while they are temporarily in the U.S.
A visa is an authority issued by the embassy/consulate of a country that permits a traveler to visit that particular country. The majority of visas are stamped inside your passport. (A small number of visas are either separate documents to be carried with the passport or issued electronically.) Visas are issued with specific limitations regarding purpose of visit, length of stay, validity of visa, etc. It is the traveler’s responsibility to obtain necessary visas before their travel.
A visa is a special permit, issued by various nations through their consulates, to allow the entrance of travelers to their country. It is usually in the form of a stamp (like a big postage stamp), placed on a page of your passport. Not all countries require a visa, but you need to check for information. China and Russia are among the countries that require you to obtain a visa in advance. Some countries will simply issue a visa when you arrive at passport control, while others do not require visas at all. You will be notified if a visa is required, and we supply you with an application form for the specific country, along with instructions, deadlines, etc.
