What is a virus and how does my computer get infected with one?
A virus is a program and/or string of codes that violates or compromises software, the operating system and performance of your PC. Left undetected it can do damage, at times requiring complete re-partition and re-format of the hard drive. It hides itself inside downloads, Internet Urls and other links. Microsoft does not provide a free anti-virus program with their operating systems. It is strongly recommended you install one that will provide the best protection. Here again, you might want to consult an expert before data is lost.
