What is a Victorian Style Home?
When we think of Victorian style homes, the rows of terraces that were built in the 1900s come to mind. These were popular with working class people while wealthier people preferred to live in detached Victorian style homes. Victorian terraces are narrow, double storey, with a small front veranda and a cast iron balcony. An ornate chimney is a major roof feature and heritage organisations require in many cases that the chimney is kept, even if the fireplace is not used, or removed.
