What is a vegetable dyed rug?
A. After wool is spun into yarn it is colored with vegetable dyes grown in Pakistan and India. These natural dyes are non-toxic and include indigo, madder, ousparak, and walnut husk to mention a few. Hanks of yarn are then suspended from sticks and immersed in tubs and set out to dye. After drying the rug is washed several times, brushed and dried before making its way to you.
