What is a VAT charge?

Hi TJ VAT is a sales tax and Uk VAT is currently charged at 15% so an extra 190 on an original cost of 200 seems wrong. Maybe you are buying something from outside the UK and actually you are getting an extra charge for shipping and customs duty and VAT. If you import something then the taxman charges you import duty… and then charges you VAT on top of the cost and the import duty. But I wouldn’t expect import duty and VAT to be more than 50% of the original costs at worst and more than 35% would be high. So, from the information you have given, it looks funny and wrong and really you need to ask some more questions to check it out a bit more.
