What is a VAP (vascular access port)?
A VAP is a medical device surgically placed under the skin. The VAP has two parts. First, the catheter runs from the central vein (jugular) and attaches to the titanium port. Second, the port is placed under the skin on the animals shoulder area for easy and painless access to the blood supply. Once placed, the VAP will last the duration of the pet s life, as long as the proper sterile technique is used for access.
